Four Parisians enjoying a baguette next to the River Seine

I offer French tuition to learners of all levels and ages. I have a 2:1 degree in French (and English) from the University of Liverpool. I have lived in both Paris and Nancy for three years in total; during which time I became fluent. I love to intersperse my lessons with little anecdotes about France and the French language and help learners avoid the embarrassing mistakes I made along my language-learning journey! Whilst I have moved back to the UK, I am still fanatic about France and continue to study French in my own time.

Below you will find information on the types of French classes I offer.

Whether you holiday in France and want to communicate with the locals, or you just want to try something new by learning a language, I can help. I teach adults from beginner to advanced, including those who studied to GCSE/A-Level and have always wanted to go back to it. It’s amazing how much you remember!

I develop my students’ ability to communicate in and understand French through activities which centre their needs and interests. We’ll also build on all four competencies (listening, reading, writing and speaking) as well as grammar for those who wish to understand the more nuanced aspects of the language. Learning a language should be fun no matter your age, and it’s never too late to start!

Please see here for a testimonial.

I also offer French lessons to children who want to learn from a young age, and support for children/young people who study French and are working towards their GCSE or A-Level. One hour a week of dedicated French support could make a huge difference to your child’s attainment and enjoyment of the language.

It’s possible for children to take age-appropriate “exams” (DELF – more information here). These certificates reflect your  target language knowledge rather than ‘test’ in the traditional sense, but they’re still a great addition for children who want to attend grammar and private educational establishments. If you’re interested, then please contact me – I’d love to help!

Please see here for a review from a year 9 French student.

I also run group French classes which are are suitable for children between the ages of 6 and 11 (all activities are differentiated between KS1/LKS2/UKS2), with subject matter in line with the national curriculum. Each six week “block” focuses on a new topic which maximises opportunities to recycle vocabulary and acts as a vehicle for introducing key grammatical concepts. Children start speaking French with an emphasis on good pronunciation from the very first lesson. All lessons are fun, engaging and creative, including songs, games and sometimes craft/art activities.

Please see here for more details on how to sign up to a class, and click here to read a review from a parent whose children recently completed the first six-week block.

Children don’t need to have taken part in previous blocks to join in.

For those who do not wish for structured lessons and are instead looking for a relaxed way to practise their conversational French with guidance on appropriate vocabulary and grammatical constructions. This is a great way to brush up on your French before a holiday or if you have a second home in France and want to chat more with the locals!

Faye’s passion for what she does is infectious. It’s been a truly fulfilling experience so far and I look forward to my lessons each week. It’s so rewarding to learn with Faye; she is kind and supportive and so easy to get along with. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend her enough to anyone and everyone.
